Kanpai

It's been a long week and I'm ready to unwind. Tonight Alex made me a great mint julep using Knob Creek bourbon, fresh mint simple syrup and chocolate mint garnish, using herbs from the weed patch. The first time I ever tasted a julep, at culinary school too many years ago to count, I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. Now I know that good bourbon and fresh mint make all the difference. It's a drink for sipping, sweet, spicy, and utterly refreshing. Since I'm planning to sit and enjoy mine, I'm going to send you to Ruhlman for a recipe. Happy Friday. I raise my glass to family, good friends (may they be one and the same), and peace of mind.
